1953: On The Guiding Light, Bert Bauer (Charita Bauer) told her father-in-law, Papa Bauer (Theo Goetz), that she was worried her husband, Bill (Lyle Sudrow), might have an affair with Gloria LaRue or even return to the bottle. Later, Papa advised Bill to be more loving and patient with Bert. Bill admitted he's not sure how faithful he could be to Bert with her domineering ways interfering.

1961: On The Edge of Night, Sara Karr (Teal Ames) ran out of the house after her two-year-old, Laurie (Victoria Larkin), had wandered into the street, followed by the sound of screeching tires and an impact.

1972: Robin Strasser returned to the role of Rachel Clark on Another World, after leaving the soap two months earlier in December 1971. The announcer said: "Today, Another World welcomes back Robin Strasser in the role of Rachel."

"The role was too important to write out," said Paul Rauch, Another World executive producer at the time. "We had some heavy stuff coming up involving Rachel and we figured Robin was about the only one who could handle it. So we persuaded her."

1978: On One Life to Live, Karen (Judith Light) was assaulted in the alleyway behind the River Rat Bar.

1981: On Another World, Sandy (Christopher Rich) pushed Jamie (Richard Bekins) out of the path of a forklift but fell over the docks. At the hospital, Frankie (Harris Laskawy) told Russ that Sandy didn't have family in town or health insurance.

1982: On General Hospital, Luke (Anthony Geary) reconnected with an old friend from Elm Street, a boxer named Johnny Morrissey (Miles McNamara).

1983: On Knots Landing, Gary (Ted Shackelford) stumbled upon Ciji's (Lisa Hartman) corpse on the beach. Gary and Abby (Donna Mills) found out Ciji was pregnant at the time of her death. Gary was arrested for Ciji's murder.

Thanks for Jennifer for sending in the item above.

1987: On Ryan's Hope, in Bridgewater Joe (Walt Willey) pretended to be Robert and acted as if he was taking Siobhan (Carrell Myers) against her will. Jack (Michael Levin) arrived but was shot by Max (Daniel Pilon), who was the Overlord. Joe revealed himself to Max and the two of them faced out with guns drawn. Siobhan charged at Max, who fell backward off a balcony to his death in the raging water below. Note: Daniel Pilon returned to Ryan's Hope as Max in October 1988.

1989: On The Young and the Restless, Jill Foster Abbott (Jess Walton) was outraged that her son, Phillip Chancellor III (Thom Bierdz), was going out to dinner with Nina Webster (Tricia Cast).

1997: On Another World, Gabe (John Bolger) was fatally shot by a sniper. Cindy (Kim Rhodes) insisted that Grant was involved in the shooting. Meanwhile, Bobby (Robert Kelker Kelly) informed Vicky (Jensen Buchanan) that he had also seen Ryan and that Kirk's "imaginary friend" was none other than Ryan's ghost. Joe (Joseph Barbara) was made acting captain of the Bay City Police Force.

1998: On Another World, Shane Roberts (Robert Kelker Kelly) was only able to speak one word to Lila (Lisa Peluso) before he died: "Vicky". Donna (Anne Stuart) told Vicky (Jensen Buchanan) she must never tell anyone she was with Shane that night. Joe was able to reach Michael Hudson's car but Michael was already dead. Note: Nadine Stenovitch debuted as Josie Watts Sinclair in this episode.

1997: On As the World Turns, Lily (Martha Byrne) and Diego's (Bronson Pickett) wedding concluded. Lily had agreed to the ceremony in the hopes of getting Diego to confess his crimes. In front of the church, Lily angrily demanded to know what Diego did with her mother, and Diego admitted that he killed Lucinda. As a thunderstorm brewed overhead, a hysterical Lily pulled out the gun that she had hidden in her bouquet, but suddenly the lights went out. A shot was fired as thunder clapped, and when the lights came back on, Diego was lying on the ground with a chest wound, and soon thereafter, he died. Lily claimed that she killed him, but her gun was missing. Everyone was shocked when Holden (Jon Hensley) arrived on the scene with Lucinda, who was very much alive. Holden explained that they had been captured and then claimed responsibility for killing Diego. Both Lily and Holden were held at the police station, where gun powder residue was found on Lily's hands. Holden was released and Lily was arrested for killing Diego.

2004: On Passions, Gwen (Liza Huber) and Ethan (Eric Martsolf) were told Gwen could never have another child.

George Gaynes
Actor George Gaynes died on Monday, February 15. He at 98.

Gaynes was born George Jongejans in Helsinki in 1917 to a Russian artist mother and Dutch businessman father. He was raised in France, England and Switzerland and studied opera in Italy before World War II and a brief internment in Spain derailed his schooling. He spent the rest of the war serving in the Royal Dutch Navy. At the war's end, he headed to America, where he performed with the New York City Opera, as well as Broadway, where he joined the cast of "Out of This World."

In 1953, he was cast in Leonard Bernstein's "Wonderful Town," changed his last name to Gaynes and married actress Allyn Ann McLerie, with whom he spent the rest of his life. They had a daughter, Iya, and a son, Matthew, a world-class kayaker who missed out on the Olympics due to the 1980 boycott. He died in a 1989 car accident in India.

On television, Gaynes played Sam Reynolds on CBS soap opera Search for Tomorrow, and the original Frank Smith on ABC's General Hospital. Other credits included Columbo, Hawaii Five-0 and Quincy, M.E.

In film, he played a supporting role in 1973's The Way We Were. He also starred in 1982's Toostie as well as the Police Academy franchise, which spanned seven movies.

George Gaynes (center) on General Hospital in 1980.
In, 1984, at the age of 64, he was cast in Punky Brewster as Chicago building manager-turned-foster dad Henry Warnimont. But it came at a cost: In an interview that year, he told the New York Times, "The two things an actor dreads most are children and dogs. I have both in this series."

He played the role for four seasons, as well as in a short-lived animated spinoff. He would also find steady gigs on CBS'Hearts Afire and NBC's The Days of Nights of Molly Dodd, which allowed him to work alongside his wife.

Gaynes called it a career after 2003 Ashton Kutcher film Just Married. He spent several years of his retirement in Santa Barbara before moving to Washington State to live with his daughter's family.

Soleil Moon Frye, his TV daughter, remembered Gaynes on Twitter Wednesday.

When Jeb impulsively embraced Megan, Nicholas Blair (Humbert Allen Astredo) was conjured up from the netherworld as the man now in charge of the leviathans' plot. Nicholas forced Jeb into the new changing room, and in his monstrous state, Jeb tried to kill Bruno (Michael Stroka) for betraying him to Nicholas. In the meantime, Carolyn (Nancy Barrett) had another dream about a blood-covered Jeb, only this time she also saw her father's grave. After Carolyn told Jeb of the dream, he and Megan dug up Paul Stoddard's (Dennis Patrick) grave and found Paul's corpse with a most unpleasant surprise.

The actor, who joined the soap in 1988 and just signed a three-year contract, was married to actress Amy McDonald, with whom he had a 2-year-old son.

Susan Marie Snyder (aka Suzenne Marie Seradwyn), who played ATWT's Julie, spoke about Morrison's death in an interview with Capridge.com: "My co-star, Michael David Morrison, died from an overdose. Vicky promised not to tell Jake that she was with Shane shortly before his death. Donna convinced her that if their marriage were ruined by this fact, then Michael's search for Vicky on that fateful night would have been in vain. And upon bringing Lila home that evening, Matt realized that she was pregnant.

1999: On The Young and the Restless, alone with thoughts about the past, Kay (Jeanne Cooper) was at the end of her rope over having to share the Chancellor Estate with recently-named co-owner, Jill Foster Abbott, and was tempted to drink.

VH1 Greenlights Drama Inspired by Star Jones Book 'Satan's Sisters'

Star Jones
VH1 will be adding Satan's Sisters to its lineup next year. The network has given the greenlight to a one-hour scripted series inspired by Star Jones’ 2011 book of the same name. Set in the bright lights of daytime television, Satan’s Sisters is the story of The Lunch Hour -- a long-running, popular ladies' talk show in which alliances are forged, careers are made, and bridges are burned.

Slated for a 2017 premiere, the series will focus on the five female co-hosts of a popular daily TV talk show and the fireworks that ensue each weekday when they discuss life, love, family, politics, and gossip.

These five women, with very different points of view, are best friends and sisters...while they're on TV. But behind the scenes, they are “Satan's Sisters” -- a backstage world filled with power struggles, personal demons, diva fits, love affairs, man troubles, cat fights...and cocktails.

Executive producers for the series are Josh Berman (Drop Dead Diva, CSI), Star Jones, Suzanne DePasse (The Temptations, Lonesome Dove) & Madison Jones, and Susan Levison. Writers for the series are Amy Engelberg and Wendy Engelberg who also serve as executive producers. The series is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television.

“I’m so excited that Satan’s Sisters, which was such a fun book to write, is finally coming to the small screen,” said Star Jones. “I would be lying if I said that ‘Satan’s Sisters’ wasn’t influenced by the soap opera life of daytime TV but it is a work of fiction. All the characters are inspired, in parts, by someone I’ve worked with, worked for, interviewed, was interviewed by and/or even prosecuted.”

“Daytime TV now comments on and creates pop culture," said Chris McCarthy, General Manager, VH1. “Star Jones’ book is the perfect project for VH1 and our partners to bring to life."

The series will continue VH1’s momentum in the scripted arena. The network recently gave the series greenlight for its critically acclaimed original movie The Breaks which was seen by 2.6 million total viewers on its January 4 premiere night and ranked #1 in its time period among adults 18-34. The third season of Hit The Floor, currently airing on Monday nights, premiered last month as the #1 non-sports cable program in its time period among women 18-49, women 18-34 and adults 18-34.

1970: On Dark Shadows, Megan (Marie Wallace) reported to Nicholas about the burning of Paul Stoddard's grave. She threatened to kill Nicholas if he hurt Jeb, whom Nicholas accused her of loving. Barnabas (Jonathan Frid) found Megan and told her that Jeb punished his betrayal by turning him back into a vampire. In revenge, Barnabas bit Megan and got her under his control. Megan then told Barnabas that Schuyler Rumson -- Angelique's new husband -- was the man who turned him in. Barnabas tracked down Angelique on Long Island and informed her that Sky was a leviathan, a charge she refused to believe. However, Sky then introduced her to his mentor, Nicholas Blair. Though Angelique and Nicholas pretended to be strangers in front of Sky, the old arch-enemies reverted to form. Realizing that she truly couldn't escape her past as a witch, Angelique decided to embrace it anew. As the episode ends, Nicholas ordered Sky to burn Angelique, which he set out to do.

1980: On All My Children, Palmer (James Mitchell) threatened to turned an attack dog loose on Daisy (Gillian Spencer), who wanted to reveal herself to Nina (Taylor Miller).

1980: On The Edge of Night, Draper Scott's (Tony Craig) murder trial began.

1981: On Another World, Alice (Vana Tribbey) met Mitch when Olivia stepped out of the hospital waiting room. Mac was surprised when Rachel told him she had already spoken to Mitch about Matthew. Larry told Blaine they would be working at the Arena together. Alice was uncomfortable when Mitch talked about Jamie. Blaine warned Larry about Clarice’s reaction when she learns of his change in occupation. Mac didn’t understand when Rachel said Mitch objected to Mac’s desire to adopt Matthew. Mitch told Olivia he can’t feel settled down while Zachary investigates him. Jamie admitted to sleep depravation and considered asking Russ for sleeping pills while talking to Mac about his workload. Larry made a cryptic phone call about upcoming plans for Jordan. Jess suggested to Jordan that they target Cory Publishing. 1982: On Falcon Crest, the Gioberti family prepared for the arrival of Chase's mother, Jacqueline Perrault (Lana Turner), from France. Jacqueline was married to Jason, but divorced him thirty years ago, taking Chase away from Falcon Crest and never returning until now. Angela (Jane Wyman) discovered the news of Jacqueline's arrival and was displeased, indicating she had a history with her sister-in-law. Jacqueline arrived and greeted the Giobertis semi-warmly, but was overcome with emotion when she saw Chase. When Lance arrived, bearing a wine basket courtesy of Angela, Jacqueline seemed somewhat disparaging towards Falcon Crest and Angela in particular. Jacqueline warned Chase that staying in Falcon Crest could be dangerous, and that he could suffer the same fate as Jason. Jacqueline offered Maggie the opportunity to bring the whole family back to France with her. Angela and Jacqueline arranged to have dinner at the Gioberti's house. Angela tried to prevent Emma from coming, but Julia convinced her to relent. At dinner, Angela and Jacqueline verbally sparred before Angela, disgusted, left the table, Jacqueline following close behind. Away from the rest of the family, Jacqueline implied that Jason's death may not have been accidental and that Angela somehow precipitated it. She said she left Falcon Crest thirty years ago to protect Chase from Angela, and that she wanted to continue to do so. Chase interrupted the conversation, saying that he could make his own decisions and that he belongs in Falcon Crest. As the family said their goodbyes, Chase offered to let Jacqueline stay so they can be together. Jacqueline said the real reason she returned was to rekindle their sense of family, and promised to be there for Chase when he needed her.

1985: British soap opera EastEnders debuted on BBC, and revolved around the daily lives of the denizens of Albert Square in London's East End borough of Walford. In the premiere, Den Watts, Arthur Fowler, and Ali Osman discovered Reg Cox unconscious in his flat. While the rest of "the Square" -- led by busybodies Ethel Skinner and Lou Beale -- was mired in gossip about Reg's condition and argued over comparative neighborliness, Pauline and Arthur Fowler -- middle-aged and on the dole with two teens to support -- fretted about telling family matriarch Lou that they had a third child on the way. 13 million viewers watched the first episode.

Note: As part of EastEnders' 30th anniversary celebrations, all of the episodes airing this week will include live elements, while Friday's 30-minute episode will be fully live.

1988: On Loving, Ava Rescott Alden (Roya Megnot) prepared to leave her husband, Clay (Randolph Mantooth).

1991: On Another World, Vicky Hudson (Anne Heche) and Ryan Harrison (Paul Michael Valley) made love for the first time.

1998: On Another World, it was the morning after the deadly accident that killed Shane and Michael, and Lila (Lisa Peluso) vowed to find out why Shane was on the mountain that night, and accused Vicky of causing the car crash by luring Shane to the mountain cabin. But Donna fabricated a tale, claiming Michael wanted to bring Shane to the cabin so he could concentrate on his research. Jake admitted that he went to the cabin to spy on Vicky, and while Vicky wanted to tell him what she knew about that night, she was tormented by her promise to Donna never to reveal the truth. Meanwhile, on his wedding day, Nick awakened to the horrifying news that his father had been killed in the car crash. He and Sofia spent what they thought would be the happiest day of their lives in a state of terrible grief. And Lila, who could not let the circumstances of Shane's death rest, contacted the sheriff about the "negligent homicide."

2001: On As the World Turns, Jake (Tom Eplin) met his twin girls for the first time and named them Michelle and Bridget after Vicky's father and guardian. Note: Jensen Buchanan made her final appearance on ATWT the next day. She had already started appearing on General Hospital which led P&G to sue the actress and her agent for breach of contract.
